The Gospel Hall
As part of the proposals to revitalise and reimagine the derelict site the Church is seeking to deliver an attractive new place of worship.
There is a longstanding need for a place of worship to serve the congregation within the local area, with members who live and work in the local community currently required to travel outside of the borough of St Helens to access a Gospel Hall.
To meet this need for a local place of worship, Rainhill Place offers an ideal opportunity to create a new Gospel Hall supported by key elements of the Church’s social infrastructure.
The Gospel Hall is proposed to site to the north east of the site, minimising the visual impact of the Gospel Hall while ensuring that it complements its natural surroundings and effortlessly integrates with the wider proposals for Rainhill Place.
The design of the Gospel Hall balances a traditional appearance with subtle contemporary elements which reflects the topography of the site and ensures that it will not have a greater visual impact generated by the current buildings.
In keeping with this approach, its size has been kept to just a single storey, while still providing adequate space to serve the local congregation for years to come.
